Dr. Low Dog has been an invited speaker to more than 550 scientific/medical conferences, published 40 peer-reviewed articles, written 20 chapters for medical textbooks, and has authored National Geographic's Healthy at Home and Life is Your Best Medicine, and co-authored National Geographic's Guide to Medicinal Herbs.

Her many honors include the Martina de la Cruz medal for her work with indigenous medicines (1998), Time magazine's “Innovator in Complementary and Alternative Medicine” (2001), Bioneer's award for Outstanding Contribution to Medicine (2002), the Burt Kallman Scientific Award (2007), NPR's People's Pharmacy Award for Excellence in Research and Communication for the Public Health (2010), the New York Zen Center's Compassionate Care Award (2013), the Leadership Award in Integrative Medicine at the Integrative Healthcare Symposium (2014), and Herbal Insight Award from the American Herbal Products Association (2015).
